A door is defined as a "roller door" because the curtain consists of several roll formed sheets joined together to form the curtain of the door. A roller shutter curtain consists of many individually roll formed slats that interlock to form the curtain. Shutters are stronger than doors but may not be suitable for a location due to a number of reasons.

Steel shutters can now span widths in excess of nine metres in routine applications, satisfying a number of applications ranging from small commercial shutters to large warehouse doors. Doors can be powder coated to suit any colour.

Made with galvanised steel curtains, these doors are able to withstand rough and high frequency use, and adverse weather conditions. Fire resisting shutters are typically made with either 2 hour or 4 hour fire resistance, and a variety of operating methods including fusible link and solenoid operation.

For additional convenience and practicality, the doors are also available with power operation. There are a variety of control options for power operated doors, including: remote control, automatic timed return, warning lamps, or infra-red safety beam.
